Ten individuals convicted of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the partner of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced accusations of circulating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's gender.
Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she taught at his lycée.
The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
